Circuit Complement
Tubes + Semiconductors: 7x EF 93 (=6 BA 6), 1x EK 90 (=6 BE 6), 3x ECC 81 (=12 AT 7), 2x EB 91
(=6 AL 5), 1x EL 90 (=6 AQ 5), 1x 108 C 1 (=0B 2), most tubes can be checked by RF/AF meter, selenium rectifiers in power supply
Tuning: Coil turret, four ganged capacitors in RF circuits, main tuning by a flywheel knob geared 60:1. For a setting accuracy of 1 kHz the knob is pushed when the pointer is exactly at the 20 kHz dial mark below the desired frequency. Then the meter can be aligned to the next 20 kHz mark above by a Wheatstone bridge. Iindividually calibrated dial; 4 circuits for HF, 9 circuits for IF
Crystals: 1x 100 kHz for calibration, 3x in additional oscillator for fixed channels,
2x 1326 kHz in IF filter banks
Dials: Coarse dial with calibrated 20 kHz marks, fine tuning resolution 1 kHz with meter

Comments
Descendent from Siemens E 303 - E 306, which had a big dial instead of frequency lens. Widely used by West German official authorities and military in 50's to 60's this receiver appeared later plentiful on the surplus market. Performance at SSB reception in CW mode is fair as the BFO gives a strong signal to the detection diode. Bandwidth variable for an optimal shape. Competitor was Telefunken E 127 Kw.

Variants
Front panel and cabinet in light gray or dark green. E 309b features a C-type antenna jack.
